For the last several years, Elisabeth has been interested in what she calls  meta weave – any woven motif that looks like an interlacement of threads. These towels are a result of exploring meta possibilities on four shafts, using a high-contrast accent color in warp and weft to create a 3D effect, essentially a woven  trompe l'oeil. Beam 8/2 Organic Cotton and Mallo Cotton Slub work wonderfully together to make fun and functional towels in Summer and Winter weave. Order a kit.

Equipment

  • 4-shaft table or floor loom
  • 84-96 heddles per shaft
  • 12-dent reed
  • 3 boat shuttles + bobbins 

Yarn

Warp: Beam 8/2 Organic Cotton, 1,190 yds Lemon, 110 yds Licorice.

Weft: Beam 8/2 Organic Cotton, 770 yds Pistachio, 475 yds Licorice. Mallo Cotton Slub, 565 yds Icicle.
